“John Allan was diagnosed with IUGR (intrauterine growth restriction.) We had a few ultrasounds and an appt. with a high risk OB on Wednesday who said that it was safer for John Allan to be out of the womb rather than in. The OB suspected there was an issue with the placenta transferring nourishment and said that we needed to induce because the longer we waited the higher the chance there would be of either stillbirth or fetal distress that would lead to an emergency cesarean.
I want to give a huge thanks to our certified professional midwives, Christy Martin and Jamie Hinton, who continue to provide loving, thoughtful care after the birth. They stayed at my side during the hospital induction. They were with me at every appointment and with every contraction. They were there over two long nights trying to get our gender surprise baby born a little sooner than expected. If you want to feel supported, have these women in your life. Another huge thanks to the nurse midwives, high risk OBs and nursing staff at Harris Methodist Fort Worth.
We thank God for a beautifully healthy son, beautiful friends and beautiful prenatal and postpartum care. Hallelujah!”
