Frances {Fort Worth Birth Photography}

Sneak peek from Fridays birth!  Sweet baby girl was born almost immediately after mom & dad (and the doula & I) arrived at the Fort Worth Birth Center!  Thank goodness we all left when we did!  This would have been an easy delivery to miss because there just wasn’t much to it!  Rupture of membranes, contractions and baby all within about 1.5 hours!

Elizabeth Love {Fort Worth Birth Photography}

I have a long history of almost missing this mamas births!  With her 1st VBAC I hadn’t even made it out of Granbury when I received word that she was already pushing – and I had left my house after she had had only 1 contraction!  I made it with time to spare thanks to a longer pushing stage. With her 2nd VBAC I again left my house after only 1 contraction and walked in minutes before the birth.  This time I thought I was golden.  The family had moved quite a bit closer to me so I truly thought I would arrive in plenty of time and have an opportunity to take a few more labor pictures than I had been able to before.  I was so wrong.  I received a phone call on the morning of July 30 after 1 contraction, but unlike the previous births, this time she wasn’t sure that “this was really it.”  I went ahead and started driving just to be on the safe side.  Only minutes later the text came through that I had been dreading. “Hurry.”  When I arrived and walked into the bedroom you could already see a bit of little girls head.  Only 3 minutes later, she was born.  Labor had gotten faster, when I didn’t even think it was possible.  20 minutes, followed by the 30 minutes of pushing that saved me.

Kannon {Haslet Birth Photography}

This was the 1st in a string of very quick births towards the middle/end of Summer.  Unfortunately, with this one I was called to come during late afternoon and was caught in rush hour traffic while driving to north Ft Worth.  This speedy delivery was a surprise to everyone – baby was born soon after the midwife and doula arrived, but sadly, before the birth assistant and I made it.  I walked in to a nursing baby and a very proud papa!

John Allan {Fort Worth Birth Photography}

“John Allan was diagnosed with IUGR (intrauterine growth restriction.) We had a few ultrasounds and an appt. with a high risk OB on Wednesday who said that it was safer for John Allan to be out of the womb rather than in. The OB suspected there was an issue with the placenta transferring nourishment and said that we needed to induce because the longer we waited the higher the chance there would be of either stillbirth or fetal distress that would lead to an emergency cesarean.

I want to give a huge thanks to our certified professional midwives, Christy Martin and Jamie Hinton, who continue to provide loving, thoughtful care after the birth. They stayed at my side during the hospital induction. They were with me at every appointment and with every contraction. They were there over two long nights trying to get our gender surprise baby born a little sooner than expected. If you want to feel supported, have these women in your life. Another huge thanks to the nurse midwives, high risk OBs and nursing staff at Harris Methodist Fort Worth.

We thank God for a beautifully healthy son, beautiful friends and beautiful prenatal and postpartum care. Hallelujah!”
