My little Eden…

November has been a busy month for me so far!   We had a birthday of our own in my family ~ my little Eden turned one year old this past weekend!

I don’t share much about my children here, but I do want to say that Eden has been a very special blessing from the moment I knew she was with me.   I had a wonderful pregnancy, a beautiful waterbirth with two fantastic midwives and an amazing year with this little girl.

Her favorite games are peek a boo and walking around with something (a hand towel, cloth diaper, any article of clothing) over her head and covering her eyes, her favorite person is her daddy and her favorite food is *still* anything that doesn’t eat her first.

Here she is at about 1-2 weeks old…

at 6 months…

and on her birthday eating her Hummingbird Cake!

This cake is very special to me because my 2 older daughters helped make it with a friend when I was in labor with Eden.   We also didn’t arrive at the birth center until about 54 minutes before she was born because I was so concerned about having this birthday cake with us!  🙂

I love it and want to share the recipe with you all…

The Cake:

3 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3 eggs, beaten
1 1/4 cups vegetable oil
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 can (8oz) crushed pineapple, well drained
1 cup chopped pecans

Cream Cheese Frosting:

16 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 cup butter, room temperature
2 cups confectioners’ sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 to 1 cup chopped pecans

Preheat oven to 350°. Sift flour, sugar, salt, baking soda and cinnamon together into mixing bowl several times. Add eggs and oil to the dry ingredients. Stir with a wooden spoon until ingredients are moistened. Stir in vanilla, pineapple and 1 cup pecans.  Spoon the batter into 3 well-greased and floured 9-inch round cake pans. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes,or until a wooden pick or cake tester inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn onto cooling rack. Cool completely before frosting.

Cream Cheese Frosting:
Combine cream cheese and butter; cream until smooth. Add powdered sugar, beating with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Stir in vanilla.

Frost the tops of all 3 layers, stack and then frost sides. Sprinkle top evenly with the 1/2 to 1 cup chopped pecans.

Baby P {Fort Worth Birth Photography}

I photographed a lovely homebirth on July 29, but the parents would prefer that no images are shared on the internet, so instead of posting birth pictures I am going to brag a little about something  I saw on a water bottle at this birth…  ME!

When I was pregnant with my youngest child I took a series of maternity photographs and one of them is currently being used as part of the logo for an area midwife!  It was just on business cards, but is now also on t-shirts, bags and water bottles!  I really love these pictures and think it is so neat to see them all over.  🙂

the image that is being used for the logo ~ 28 weeks pregnant with baby #4…

baby #4, Eden Camille, at 4 days old…

Eden is now almost 9 months old!  Time has FLOWN by!

Keep the referrals coming!

I know that many of you have been gracious enough to give my name and birth photography info out to your friends and family members and I appreciate it so much that I have decided to do more than just say “thank you.”

From now on, any previous client who offers a referral which results in a booked birth photography session will receive a beautiful 8×10 print or two 5×7 prints of their favorite image(s) from their birth.

I hope you all know what a blessing you have been to me!

And because every post is more interesting with a picture, here is one from little Cocos debut…

Now offering…

I recently spoke to a previous client who told me that while she loved her DVD birth slideshow, she preferred that it not be put online because she didn’t feel comfortable giving her private link to more than just a few select friends and family members ~ and those were all people that could just go to her home and watch it on her TV.  This made me realize that there are probably quite a few of you that feel the same way and are very concerned about privacy issues, so I have decided to start offering a set of 30 low resolution, watermarked digital images for use on your Facebook, MySpace, personal blog, etc. for those of you that would like to share more of your birth experience, but not all of it.

Speaking from personal experience, I have an online album with a few of my favorite photos from my youngest daughters birth, but I know I definitely wouldn’t want to share everything from such a private event in my life and I also wouldn’t want to take the chance of it being passed along without my consent, which is always a risk when something is placed on the world wide web.   I don’t know why I didn’t think of doing something like this sooner!

Please continue to give me feedback, it is always helpful and very much appreciated!
