the birth of Camly {North Richland Hills Birth Photography}

I thought I would post this here since it is a little too much for my Facebook photo page.   :-)  I have back-dated this post so it isn’t the 1st thing you see when my blog comes up, but the picture was taken yesterday, on Sept. 21,  2012 and was a very straightforward and uncomplicated vaginal breech homebirth.  :-)

“Let me keep my mind on what matters, which is my work, which is mostly standing still and learning to be astonished.” Mary Oliver

This was my 1st birth back from my summer break and I am so, so, so glad that this family decided to hire me at the last minute!   I LOVED and will cherish this entire experience!   There were so many things that touched me during this labor and birth ~ the fact that they were wanting a VBAC; knowing that their 2 year old daughter, Naomi, was playing in other parts of the house while mom labored toward this goal; how dad seemed to want this birth experience just as much as his wife did; watching Naomi stand in the front yard and wave goodbye as we all drove away towards the hospital; the look on dads face when he was holding his wife as she began pushing; the excitement of hearing the OB ask dad if he wanted to help catch his baby;  baby being born, dad announcing that their little surprise baby was a boy, being asked if he had a name by the hospital staff and mom exclaiming “His name is David!”….  These moments I will never forget.

The above picture is seriously one of my all time favorites!  I love this baby ~ she reminded me so much of my little Eden when she was born.  Super chubby and cheesy, they both had the same shoulder and arm rolls!
But enough about me and my children…   This birth was a VERY hoped for and planned for HBAC!  This mama had been talking about this moment and these pictures for months before she even got pregnant and I think everything went exactly how she wanted.  She had a midwife and doula she loved, a huge birth pool in her kitchen :-), a waterbirth and her little surprise baby turned out to be a GIRL!

Annie {Arlington Birth Photography}

I set a record with this birth!  Definitely not a record I wanted to have though:  “Longest Amount of Time to Miss a Birth By.”     This was moms 3rd baby, 2nd vbac, 1st homebirth and she decided to go out with a bang!  I got the text to come at 4:55 AM, was out the door by 5, but baby girl was born only 7 minutes later before any of the birth team had arrived!  Daddy was the baby catcher and the place of birth was in front of the bathroom counter.    :-)   Annie knew she needed to come on out before her 2 crazy older brothers woke up!
