
This was one of the most precious births I have ever attended. It was June. Mom was only 34 weeks pregnant when she went into labor, after months of bedrest and preterm birth scares. I remember their biggest desire was for the baby to be healthy enough to breath on his own so he could go skin to skin immediately after he was born. I remember being so impressed with this mother, having had to deal with all of that and she still had an amazing attitude! I remember thinking “Who am I to wish for anything more than what I have been given when all they want is for their child to take a breath?”
Wyatt was born after a short labor. His birth was intense, so he didn’t go skin to skin right away. He did breath though. And he cried. The NICU staff was INCREDIBLE and I fell in love with them over and over watching how gently he was handled and how eager they were for dad to be close enough to hold his sons hand. Thankfully both parents got an opportunity to hold and cuddle Wyatt before he left for a short stay in the NICU. These are his pictures:
