This little family is so special to me! I was at baby Barretts birth about 1.5 years ago and then was asked to be at baby Cales birth as well. Many many “gentle labor vibes” were put out when I was thinking about this one, because Barretts birth was a little more exciting then I think we all prefered. After Cale was born though his mom threw her arms up and said “Best labor and birth ever!” We were all so happy to hear that!

I am so happy to have made it to this birth! After being on very high alert a couple of other times I think that this family might have wanted to wait until they knew it was really *it* before having me come out to photograph their homebirth. Waiting until they knew it was really it almost translated to waiting too long, but luckily their MW called me in just enough time for me to get there and take a few labor photos before the birth! I think I was there only about 15 minutes before Logan was born!

I have mentioned before how much I adore photographing births when the older siblings are involved, so this birth was really fun for me. Katie will be 3 years old in December and she is one of the sweetest big sisters I have seen! She got to be close as her mommy labored and then delivered her baby brother and they even had her climb into the pool with them after the birth! Katie seems to have an exceptional vocabulary for her age, so it was really neat to listen to all of her observations about the baby and hear her sing him ”Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” after they were out of the tub and resting on the bed!

The first time I ever met this mommy it was Sept. 2008, she was 42+ weeks pregnant and in labor with her 1st baby. She gave birth to Samuel the next day after quite a long labor. This morning she had her 2nd little one, Kate (otherwise known as Baby Cake), at home in the water and according to her it was the birth of her dreams. I am so thrilled for them!

This little girlie reminded me so much of her big brother, there were a few times when I was looking at her and the way she kept her hands clasped together as she rested against her mama and kept thinking ”this is Samuel all over again.”
