Miracle.

The definition from dictionary.com

A wonder

The definition from merriam-webster.com:

1.) An extraordinary event manifesting divine intervention in human affairs

2.) An extremely outstanding or unusual event

From Wikipedia.com:

“May refer to any statistically unlikely but beneficial event, (such as surviving a natural disaster).   Other miracles might be: survival of a terminal illness, escaping a life threatening situation or ‘beating the odds.’”

His birth and the moments leading up to it were a whirlwind of sound, movement and emotion.  I was unable to photograph or see them afterward, so I came back 2 days later to be with them in the NICU as she held her son for the 1st time.   This was my 1st experience in a NICU and it was very touching,  I am so glad I was able to be there for these precious moments.

This mom had a VBA*3*C and it was the 1st I’ve ever photographed!   I was so impressed with her, her doula and her OB!

Instead of thinking super hard about what I should say right here I think I will just write out a few of the quotes that I remember from this labor.  :-)  I don’t know that I have ever seen someone who never lost her sense of humor during labor before ~ I guess it helped that she had almost her entire family around to keep her spirits up during the process.

“Do you know what you are doing?” asks doula, Kathy O Brien.  “I’m using my muchness to have a VBAC!” mom replies.

These are more repeat clients and this was a great birth!  This little mama was so patient waiting for her baby to come, she made it to almost 42 weeks before she went into labor!  After the birth they said that there always has to be something unexpected that happens during each delivery and this time it was that they got stuck in major traffic on the way to the hospital!  Maybe it was because of this that they weren’t at the hospital too long before their daughter was born, either way, I am really glad I made it because it was a quick one!

Deanna Rose {Fort Worth Birth Photography}

This little one was born on the same day as Isaac, so that was fun!  I was super impressed with this particular midwife because after Deanna was born she was given right to her mommy and the warmer was brought over to the bed and positioned over them so she would stay nice and toasty.  Sometimes I see babies being placed under the warmers all the way on the other side of the room and this was a much kinder option for both of them!  It doesn’t make much sense to seperate the two of them so quickly after birth when her mom is all she really knows, does it?  :-)

This mama had been planning a homebirth, but her little stinker baby was trying to be born face first (hence the swollen forehead!) so a cesarean was necessary.   Thank goodness for awesome midwives that catch these issues, brave mommies who will do what is needed for their little ones even though it isn’t what they wanted and respectful OBs that still try to make the birth a good experience!
