Ruby Kate was born last week at the Gentle Beginnings Birth Center in Bedford. Everyone in her family was so thrilled to find out that she was a little girl!

Meeting this little girl was a real treat for me because I was at her big sisters birth also! It was so very special to be asked to photograph such a momentous occasion for the 2nd time.
The 1st few are of the new baby...

and here are a couple from her big siblings birth day! :-)

There are even more images from that birth in the December 07 archive: here. It is so fun looking back!

At 2:30 this morning I was called to a birth that so many people have been looking forward to for so long. This mama happens to be one of my closest friends and one of the *very* special people that helped me so much during my own pregnancy. She is beautiful, strong and inspiring. I don't want to write much more than to say that Phoenix is very much wanted and very much loved by his entire family! Cody, you did an amazing job of "looking normal and doing a lot of things" (hahahaha ~ I will NEVER forget that!) and Gina, I love you and am so happy that you both finally have this perfect child in your arms.

Baby Briley surprised everyone by coming in March instead of April! It is a good thing she did though ~ everyone was so happy to meet her! Her parents didn't find out whether she was going to be a boy or a girl during the pregnancy so after the birth dad had fun telling the big brother and sister. I think the expression on her sisters face says it all!

Ashlyn Joy is here! Her mommy was born at home, so she decided to deliver her 1st baby at home as well. Ashlyn was born in the water on the morning of a beautiful day. I am so happy I was able to be there to photograph this incredible event.

Barrett made quite the dramatic entrance Monday morning! Her birth provided a bit more excitement and emotion than I am used to, but maybe that was just her way of showing everyone that she is indeed a VERY special little girl.

Baby Coco was waterborn (at the same birth center that my little Eden was born at!) Monday afternoon after a fairly quick labor. Luckily, I walked in just in the nick of time to catch this shot:

This morning I attended my 1st birth in 2 long months! This little lady was born on her due date and her parents couldn't be more thrilled to have her here! The midwives said over and over that they were going to brag about this mommy and daddy for how well they worked together during this labor, so I will too ~ you guys should be so, so proud of yourselves! You were both fantastic!
Hope you like your sneak peek!

With all of my free time these days I decided to put together a little slideshow with a few of my favorite pictures from each of the births I have photographed in the past year! I tried my best to keep it short, but with so many beautiful families it was a challenge...
I also want to thank each and every one of you for inviting me into such a special event in your lives. I have seen so many incredible births! I remember a couple of years ago when I first started doing this I thought I would never be lucky enough to attend a birth of twins, but now I have photographed 2 sets of twins and am very excitedly waiting for another twin delivery in the coming months! I also never thought I would get to see a vaginal breech birth, but have seen 2 of these as well and teared up at one while watching a very proud daddy catch his little girl. :-D Those births were especially nice for me since my own son was born by cesarean for breech presentation almost 11 years ago... I have seen amazing VBACs in and out of the hospital, and have been shown ~ several times ~ that a cesarean can be just as amazing. I have also met so many incredible people and several of them have become my good friends (and faithful Chuck E Cheese partners.)
I am looking forward to many more beautiful births and hopefully many more friends in 2009! Happy New Year!
(And since I don't want to post without sharing a picture, here is one of my own little Eden in her herbal bath on her birth day, taken by her fabulous Aunt B!)

Who is this?!

The cutest, sweetest baby in the entire world, that's who! My little Eden is 5 weeks old now! Where has the time gone??
Happy Holidays everyone!

Daniel Charles was born at 5:16 PM on Sunday, November 30. He was 10 lbs and 6 ounces, which is the biggest baby I have ever seen born. He was also his moms 1st child to be born vaginally after 4 cesareans! I cannot put into words what an amazing accomplishment this is and what an honor it was to be present for this delivery. Thank you so much, T, for inviting me AND my little Eden to be a part of this very special occasion!

It has taken me a little over a week, but I want to (finally) announce the birth of my own little girl! Her name is Eden Camille and she was born on November 7th at 4:04 PM, weighing 8 lbs 15 oz and measuring 20.5 inches long. She was born earlier than what I was expecting and planning for, but she is healthy and an absolute angel, so I am very grateful.
Eden was born in the water and her birth went better than I could have ever imagined it would. My two daughters wanted to and were able to watch their sister be born and though my 6 year old decided not to help catch, my 4 year old did get the honor of cutting the cord. All of my children had their own cameras to document the big event with and I think I can safely say that they won't be much competetion to me in the future ~ most of their photography revolved around close ups of each other with various expressions on their faces. Ha ha.
I am deeply appreciative to everyone who was praying for me, to my dear friends who were understanding and helped me *tremendously* when I was having a hard time and of course, to my midwives, who will have my love and blessings forever.
I wouldn't dare post and not share a picture, so here are a few of my favorites from her birth and the past week!

Baby Bit is finally here and has been discovered to be a sweet little boy! Thanks so much Cindy for keeping me updated and making sure I got there in plenty of time! (heehee) Congrats again!!

AWESOME day today! Baby Tatum was born this morning at around 10 and this was SUCH a special delivery for her parents. With their 1st child mom became extremely ill while on vacation and had to birth 5 weeks early under general anesthesia. Being awake today for this cesarean was a completely new and wonderful experience. Hearing Tatums 1st cries, seeing her immediately and being able to nurse minutes after her birth are memories that will never be forgotten...

October 14, 08
I think that it's time I talk about myself for a minute! :-) I am 35 weeks pregnant now and this past weekend my sweet, wonderful, amazing friends had a little shower for me. I had such a great time and am so appreciative of everyone who blessed me with their presence that day. It was supposed to be a beads (for a necklace to wear during the birth with a blessing attached), bottoms (diapers) and books (this is a fairly obvious one!) shower, but there were a few adorable outfits, home-made brownies and 2 packages of cotton candy thrown in for good measure! (The cotton candy was my only personal request, but unfortunately I was unable to have any since it seemed to melt all over the pretty platter it was being served on!) LOL!

And here is my most recent maternity picture that my husband has taken of me! We will do the next at 36 weeks and the last at 40! I can not wait to see how big I get!

October 11, 08
Sweet little William was born yesterday (10/10/08) and I think his parents were happy that his was a shorter, easier delivery than that of his big brother, Miguel!
His parents had a photographer present at their 1st birth as well, and I was told that she captured an image of their son tinkling on the OB, so I thought it would be funny to share the image below of that same OB getting the same treatment from their new son! :-)

Lynsey
Marleigh's delivery was my 1st to photograph in October and her mom made it a great one by having a waterbirth! Little girl was full of emotion anytime she wasn't in mom or dads arms, in fact, her newborn exam was deemed "the saddest one ever" because of her pitiful little cry and pout. :-)

I haven't shared an herbal bath picture lately...

Part of the "saddest newborn exam ever," the always exciting weigh in...

I hope you like them!
Sept. 08...
Raegan made her appearance yesterday afternoon and surprised everyone by being over a pound bigger than what they were expecting!

Samuel was born last week and I guess you could call his entrance "fashionably late" as his birth was 18-19 (?) days past his estimated due date! He was a total cutie weighing in at a hefty 9 pounds!
Congratulations mom and dad!

These next photos are from the labor of an amazing woman. Rachael I just want you to know that you were and are absolutely incredible and I am so happy to have met and become friends with you. Your spirit and determination are truly an inspiration to me.
I will add the rest of the photos later! ;-)

This little man was actually born last month in August and he had a very interesting and exciting arrival. Interesting because his birth was his moms 3rd VBAC (just like my upcoming baby will be for me) and exciting because he actually arrived before the midwife did! And before the photographer! Argh! According to his parents though, it was an amazing experience and I can only hope that mine will go as well! (I would like my midwife to make it though...)
I won't soon forget hearing the new daddy answer a phone call shortly after I arrived and say proudly "I JUST delivered my new baby son."
Here are a couple of the highly anticipated photos!

Two births in two days!
Yesterday Lark was born at home into her daddy's waiting hands and then snatched right back out of them by her big sister, Jade, and many other very excited family members! Jade was born by cesarean, so this was a very memorable delivery to witness. So amazing to have the birth of your dreams, so special to be a part.

Little peanut Dakota was born the day before and his was also a very emotional birth. I met his mom a few days after she conceived for the 1st time in 2007 and we stayed in touch after the resulting miscarriage and during her next pregnancy. Dakota came about 1.5 weeks before his due date, but to his mom and dad, it wasn't soon enough! They have been waiting for this baby for a long, long time. He has been and will be well loved.
