I was so lucky to get to spend some time with this little dude again! Nicholas is 5 days old now and was an absolute angel for me today.

Four birth slideshows I have put together are going to be playing at the Gentle Beginnings Birth Center booth at a babyfest this weekend in Grapevine! Everyone go check them out!

Madilyn did so well today when her baby sister, Cecily, was born. After the birth she stood at the end of the bed and said "We did it! We did it!" She gave Cecily lots of kisses and even helped wash her hair in the bathtub ~ she is off to a great start as big sister!

19/06: Nicholas
Nicholas came into the world today and I was so pleased to be allowed to watch his entrance. His parents have been waiting so long to meet this little guy and I think he was happy to see them too. After being given to daddy he just calmly looked around the entire time I was in the O.R. with them!

Congratulations!

I had the good fortune of being asked to do baby Avea's newborn portraits only 1 week after I photographed her birth. She had an upset belly for a good portion of the time I was there, but I got a few good ones!

I think I was just as excited to see her mom as I was her though ~ she had an incredible VBAC and it was just so awesome to be a part of it after having had 2 VBACs myself. It really took me back to my oldest daughters birth and that moment immediately afterward ~ full of shock, relief and overwhelming joy.
Here they are together...

Congratulations again!

I had been sitting at my computer trying to decide what to write for my 1st post to this blog when I recieved this letter from a midwife I have worked with several times, Bonnie Kitchen, LM, CPM. It is so touching that I think it will fit here perfectly.
Lynsey,
I would like to take this opportunity to explain to you how your beautiful photographs have affected me.
One of the reasons I became a midwife was to help facilitate those significant moments of a couple's life when they experience the most momentous occasion of their lives together – the birth of a child which their love has created.
These moments are not long lived as we all get busy with the needs of living. It is so easy to lose those precious memories in the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
You have the uncanny knack of snapping those moments – not the one before or the one after but the perfect moment that demonstrates the pain and power of women, the love and giving of those around her, the concern and anxiety without which the triumph and victory of birth would be meaningless.
I thank you for what you have given my clients. But I also thank you for the permanence of those memories that are otherwise so fleeting in our lives. In a few photographs, you have demonstrated all the reasons I am a midwife.
